800 Children from Delhi Child Rights Club Celebrate World Children's Day on November 20, 2022

800 children from Delhi Child Rights Club, a Butterflies NGO initiative, with an alliance of 21 non-governmental organizations working with children in Delhi, celebrated World Children’s Day at Central Park, Connaught Place on November 20, 2022. The celebration, which had dances, drawing, painting, spoon race, hand painting and balloon flying, also witnessed a special moment where children wished the FIFA World Cup the very best.

World Children’s Day was first established in 1954 as Universal Children’s Day and is celebrated on  November 20th each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children’s welfare. November 20th is an important date because in 1959 the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. Also, on that date in 1989, the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Since 1990, World Children’s Day marks the anniversary when the UN General Assembly adopted both the Declaration and the Convention on children’s rights.
